Granada Province lies in the south of Spain and forms the eastern part of the of the autonomous community of Andalusia. To it's south lie the Costas Tropical, del Sol and the Mediterranean Sea. The provinces of Albacete, Murcia, Almería, Jaén, Córdoba and Málaga form the land borders of Granada. The capital city is Granada.
The province has a population of around 876,000, of which about one third live in Granada city. There are 168 municipalities The municipalities of Granada.
The tallest mountain in Iberian Peninsula, Mulhacén (3,481 m), can be found in the Sierra Nevada National Park to the south of Granada City.
Although not on the main coastal tourist Granada is a popular destination primarily because of the Alhambra Palace and the Moorish architecture of Granada city. In the winters the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevadas are well known amongst Europe's skiing fraternity.
